How it started

When Jacelyn (Jacey) Lawson was four years old she was diagnosed with a Stage IV Wilm’s Tumor. The community rallied around her and her family and founded Jacey's Race, a non-profit organization that benefits kids with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. Jacey fought her second cancer battle in 2018 but we are happy to report that she is on the other side and doing well. Now Jacey, a college graduate, and her family continue to host the race and help other kids like Jacey.

Our mission

Jacey’s Race is a community event held specifically to help local families with children currently being treated for cancer, life-threatening or severe illness. Jacey’s Race is a 5K and 1K fun running/walking race for persons of all ages. Via sponsorship and race entry fees, money will be raised to go to our beneficiary families (new families are chosen each year), with gifts to UCAN, Community Cancer Services, and the Pediatric Department at Bonner General Health in Sandpoint, ID. The race is staffed entirely by non-paid volunteers.
